Highland Park - Prince George, BC

Highland Park is one of those Prince George neighbourhoods that feels comfortably established, with mature trees, generous yards, familiar home styles, and streets that have welcomed generations of families.

Its development is closely tied to Prince George’s rapid postwar growth. Between 1958 and 1965, the City approved three major subdivisions: Seymour, Spruceland, and Highland. As the forestry industry expanded and new mills opened, workers arrived with families who needed places to live. By the late 1960s, Prince George was reportedly Canada’s fastest-growing city.

Highland Park also has a connection to former mayor and developer Gordon Bryant. After arriving in Prince George in 1945, Bryant and his wife, Trudy, became involved in several major developments, including Plaza 400, Pine Centre, Parkwood, the downtown parkade, and Highland Park. Gordon Bryant Park along Tabor Boulevard continues that local connection.

Most of Highland Park’s original homes were built during the 1960s and 1970s. The neighbourhood offers a variety of practical mid-century styles, including ranchers with full basements, split-level homes, duplexes, and larger custom properties.

Many were designed for growing families, with spacious living rooms, eat-in kitchens, fireplaces, carports, full basements, and yards with room for children, pets, gardens, and at least one shed containing objects nobody has identified since 1987.

Today, Highland Park appeals to first-time buyers, families, downsizers, and investors. Its central location is another major advantage, with Ospika Boulevard, Tabor Boulevard, and First Avenue providing convenient access throughout Prince George.

Downtown, shopping, services, public transit, parks, and trails are all nearby, making Highland Park a practical choice for buyers who want an established neighbourhood without feeling far removed from the city.

Aberdeen - Prince George, BC

Aberdeen, often referred to around Aberdeen Glen, is located in the Hart area of Prince George, north of the Nechako River and east of the Hart Highway. It is best known for its connection to Aberdeen Glen Golf Course, a master-planned residential setting with larger lots, green space, and homes tucked around the course. It was established shortly after Aberdeen Glen Golf Club opened, around 1999 on.

For schools, the nearby Hart-area options include École Heather Park Elementary on Heather Park Road and Shas Ti Kelly Road Secondary on Kelly Road. School District 57 recommends using its catchment school locator for exact addresses.

For shopping and daily errands, Aberdeen is close to the Hart shopping area. Hart Centre Mall is located on Austin Road West and includes everyday essentials, services, banking, beauty, dental, laundry, groceries, housewares, and other day-to-day businesses.

For recreation, the headline feature is obviously Aberdeen Glen Golf Course, an 18-hole course described as being about ten minutes north of downtown Prince George, set through forested valleys with dramatic elevation changes. Nearby Hart recreation also includes Hart Ski Hill, Prince George’s local ski and snowboard hill inside city limits, plus McMillan Creek Regional Park, which has 1 km and 2.5 km trail options leading toward the cutbanks lookout.

Aberdeen has a mix, but the most recognizable part is Aberdeen Glen Estates, with executive-style homes, generous lots, golf course views, and a more private, tucked-away feel. The golf course’s own site describes the community as master-planned, with spacious residential designs, green space, privacy, and proximity to walking trails and city facilities.

Think curving roads, trees, larger lots, newer homes, golf course views, and a quieter north-end lifestyle. It has a more spacious, residential feel than denser parts of town, with the benefit of still being close to Hart amenities and not far from downtown. The broader Hart area is known for large lots, greenery, schools, trails, parks, and access to shopping within a short drive.

Aberdeen is perfect for buyers who want space, scenery, and a little breathing room, without feeling totally removed from daily conveniences. It is especially appealing for people who like the Hart lifestyle but want something a little more polished, private, and golf-course-adjacent. Translation: peaceful living, pretty views, and fewer excuses not to work on your short game.
